Hidden Tax

True statement – every life role takes a little piece of me. Friend, mom, employee, wife (to name a few) are roles that I have to budget my energy for. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to oblige, but I do feel guilt when I can’t budget my energy for all of the roles.

It’s kind of ridiculous because I know I can’t do it all and my imperfections are guaranteed, but it doesn’t stop me from trying. The guilt feels like a hidden tax for being me and whether I clock in for duty or not the taxes are still being deducted. If I’m paying attention to my kids then my husband is lacking, and if I’m blogging then my sewing is lacking. It’s a no-winners game, but it’s life.

I prioritize and it helps as much as it can, but I’m learning to just be. I do what I can and all that I can’t do I literally force myself to  be okay with it. However, learning to just be is helping to dissolve the guilt the more I work at it.

My roles remain but how I budget my energy for each one has definitely changed.
