The Richemont Company has announced interest in buying e-commerce site Yoox Net-A-Porter. The CEO of YNAP, Federico Marchetti released a statement stating, “Today marks an historic event for the Yoox Net-a-Porter Group. Richemont, already our largest shareholder, has decided to make a tender offer to buy all of YNAP’s shares. Richemont explained that the rationale for the investment is to build on YNAP’s solid track record of growth. Richemont aims to provide additional resources that further strengthen and accelerate YNAP’s long-term leadership in online luxury. This means investing even more in product, technology, logistics, people and marketing.” With Richemont already being a shareholder one can assume that this would make for a smooth transition. Of course, that will also mean that some business strategy changes will be warranted, but it would keep the e-tailer competitive with other online rivals which is the ultimate goal.

Fashion designer Naeem Khan has started the works for a new label headquarters as well as a high school in the Miami area. This high school is a big deal for a lot of youth looking for a strong foundation in fashion. The Miami Herald posted a statement made by Khan at their last school board meeting stating, “It not only creates education, but it also creates jobs for the city, and I think the combination of what we are doing will enhance the fashion industry and build a new industry that doesn’t exist in Miami today.” The school will consists of hands-on experiences and an opportunity for students to intern for the Naeem Khan label. The fashion designer stated, “Somebody gave me in America a life which I always dreamt of, I felt this was the time that I give back to the country that made me who I am.” I love this man for what he’s doing right now, because it’s actions such as this that will make our diverse America great again. Hats off to you Mr. Naeem Khan for creating a valued opportunity for all that share your love for fashion and passion for giving back. The people of Miami can expect the Naeem Khan High School to debut August 2020.

Converse and tattoo artist Brian Woo aka Dr. Woo may be my reason to love sneakers again. The two have recently partnered-up to produce the Converse Chuck 70 Collection, which originally debuted at a private soiree a few days back. The sneakers released this past weekend at select stores in black and white colorways, and if you’re looking to purchase a pair of these kicks expect the limited-editions to retail for $170.00 apiece.

H&M decided that a diversity executive was a must-have after the backlash from the young black model sporting a hoodie with the graphic “COOLEST MONKEY IN THE JUNGLE”. If the Americans didn’t make it known how socially inappropriate the hoodie was, the people of South Africa damn sure did with some massive furniture moving to the South African H&M store. Looking at the big picture, it’s my opinion that in today’s society, with EVERYONE being so conscience of everyone’s rights, the hoodie advertisement was more than an epic fail but a blatant disrespect to potential customers. I mean seriously, never have I ever seen a young white model rocking a hoodie that stated, “CRISPIEST CRACKER IN THE BOX”, and I don’t expect too. I do want to applaud Diddy for offering his SeanJohn services to the retailer, because while everyone else was dragging H&M by their toe nails, he actually offered the retailer a solution. Bottom line, never should a child wear any graphic that is offensive to their ethnicity for any price. The idea behind  racism and socialism is to kill it and all things stemming from it, not to breed into it.

Céline has appointed designer Hedi Slimane as their new creative and image director. We haven’t seen much of the designer since he exited the Saint Laurent label back in 2016, but he’s officially back on the scene, and we’re here for it. Slimane succeeds Phoebe Philo who walked away from the Céline brand back in fall of 2017. With verbal delights expressed from both Slimane and LVMH, the designer’s new responsibility will consist of maintaining all of the brand’s collections, with expecting extensions to men’s fashion, couture and the label’s fragrances. Hedi Slimane is set to begin his new position effective February 2018.
