Professional skateboarder, Nyjah Huston and Hawkers eyewear company are featuring a new collaboration with a 3-way release. The glasses are made up of natural materials, and will retail for a little under the $50 range on Hawkers website. Huston expressed his feelings regarding the collaboration stating, “I wanted to work with Hawkers because they make a quality product, I believe in what they are doing and I also wanted to have a good time with the project. I always tell children that if they want to make skateboarding their professional career, they should have fun but also keep their focus. Hawkers is a perfect fit,” We should anticipate much more collaborations from the fast-growing eyewear merchant. The retailer sold $72mil worth of eyewear last year, and the growth just keeps on coming.
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna full collection released last week with a 91 items product line. Rihanna makes mention of her collection being for all women and the added value that diversity brings to her collection by stating “The Fenty Face was created for women of all skin tones, of all personalities. These steps are key to starting your makeup, no matter the look you’re going for. This is where the fun begins.” So, what are these variable items of which I speak, you ask??? Well the collection holds 40 different shades of foundation, 30 skin sticks for contouring, highlighting, correcting, and concealing, a signature lip gloss and blotting powder, plus so many others that I can’t list them all. Steve Van Dore, VP of the Vans shoe label has rallied some members of the Vans family to carry a truck of donations to Houston for the Hurricane Harvey victims. Van Dore stated, “I know there are so many people in need, and I just want people to know that Vans and I give a shit!”, and I dig that. The Vans team will personally distribute over 5,000 socks, 4,000 shirts, and 5,000 shoes to every person in need. On top of the truck donation, the brand also donated $50,000 to the Red Cross for Harvey victims. Van Dore completed this same act back in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.
It’s not every day you hear about a fashionable collaboration between an eyewear retailer and an upscale Italian restaurant, but Oliver Peoples and New York based Sant Ambroeus are pulling it off without a hitch. The partnership consists of a 2-pair release in Oliver People’s well-known M-4 silhouette. The glasses will be made up of the retailer’s technologies with Sant Ambroeus’ signature for the added ‘we were here’ flavor. This will be a limited-edition release retailing for $490 a pair at Oliver Peoples retailers in New York the latter part of September.

Martha Stewart has extended her contract with QVC to fashion and skincare products. Stewart stated, “I have developed signature collections that reflect my passion for beautiful living and I look forward to expanding our product offerings.” The fashion collection consists of woven tops, knit, and denim already being sold on QVC’s website, but expect the full collection to release live on QVC September 25th. Don’t expect Stewart’s skin care products to release until later this year on November 10th.
Actor Matt Bomer is featured in menswear label Todd Snyder’s fall marketing campaign. Bomer is best known for his soap opera appearances, however some of his recent work consists of last year’s western movie “The Magnificent Seven”, this year’s drama “Walking Out”, and TV series “The Last Tycoon”. Word on the street is that the actor shares a tenured love for the brand dating as far back as 2012. The collection consists of various outerwear, long sleeves, plaids, and bottoms all draped in materials appropriate for the cooler weather. The collection is available online as well as retailers such as Mr. Porter, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales.
Gwyneth Paltrow has established a brick and mortar roots for her Goop e-commerce label. Paltrow has opened various pop-ups in the past, but starting this coming Friday, September 15th, it will be the real thing. The store will hold the brand’s fashion, beauty collection, as well as the home and garden items. The Goop Lab will open in Santa Monica within the Brentwood community on 225 26th Street.
