Weekly Squirts

Check out what went down this past week…

Kobe Bryant

Did Kobe give us an awesome farewell or what?! The third-leading scorer in NBA’s history scored 22 points at the half and ended the game with 60 points vs. Utah Jazz – WHAT! Thanks for NOT passing the ball on this one Kobe, you will be missed.

You’re going to have to write a letter to your local senator if you want to get your hands on this exclusive ‘Nina’ bag  by Gabriela Hearst. Nah I’m bullshitting, BARELY! Seriously, you do have to send an email to www.gabrielahearst.com to put your name on the 100+ waiting list. This is Hearst only time adding handbags to her line and she’s not allowing them to be sold online, nor at retailers, and she’s only releasing one bag at a time. Limited edition is an understatement, but Hearst will release 20 bags total. This ‘Nina’ bag that everyone’s waiting with baited breath on is priced at $1995.00 and mostly comes in black and cognac that you see here. Hearst also has a crocodile version going for $12,000.00.

Legend and Teigen

Congratulations to John Legend and Chrissy Teigan. They welcomed their healthy baby girl, Luna Simone Stephens this past Thursday. Miss Luna Simone came into this world weighing 6lbs. and 11oz.

Rihanna announced that she has partnered up with Kendo division of LVMH to release her own makeup line. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna will launch fall of 2017 and per Kendo’s CEO, David Suliteanu this line is “aiming toward the stars”, which is different from Rihanna’s other makeup collaborations that she’s had previously with the limited edition she had with M.A.C. (RiRi Hearts) and Viva Glam which she did for an AIDS fundraiser.

No one seems to be falling off into the Gap lately. Their shares have dropped 9% and if you can remember CEO, Art Peck declared Spring 2016 would be their “no excuses moment”. They’re justifying the Gap’s loss of shares, 6% revenue drop with Old Navy (which generates 40% of their revenue by the way), and 14% drop with Banana Republic on the lack of build-up around the Easter holiday. As finicky as the retail industry has been over the last few years we’ve got to learn how to keep that cart and that horse in the right order so it won’t come off as if we have excuses – I’m just saying – and that’s my asshole moment of the day.

After almost a 45 year split the original Santana band has reunited to record a 16-song reunion album, Santana IV which released this past Friday. Carlos Santana stated, “We’ll see how it all plays out. We’re taking baby steps with it right now. Not giant steps,” Santana says. “But it’s a glorious experience to have a second chance.” (l-r Gregg Rolle, Michael Carabello, Carlos Santana, Neal Schon, and Michael Shrieve)

While we’re on the same lines as music, the Coachella Festival has arrived! Festivities started this past Thursday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. and will end Sunday, April 24th. Performances range from A$AP Rocky to Guns-N-Roses so it’s something there for everybody.

Elie Saab

Wedding bells are ringing louder than ever about this time of the year and Bridal Spring 2017 is ready for it. You can expect designers like Lela Rose to bring nontraditional bridal moments and Marchesa to grace us with sheer lace with every gown. Other designers to look forward to are Angel Sanchez, Anne Barge, and my personal favorite Elie Saab.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are expecting their second child. They recently had their first daughter, James who’s now 16mos. old. Lively has always been vocal about having a family so her being pregnant again this close to their first child really isn’t a shocker.

Pharrell x adidas Boost NMD 2

Pharrell is keeping his shoe-game tight with adidas once again. He’s launching Pharrell x adidas Boost NMD, and  I can truly say these shoes are for everyone. So far, there’s been no talk of a release date, nor of the cost of these trendy kicks, but they are forecasted to debut soon.

Authencity Chip

RFID or radio frequency identification chips are starting to spread throughout the fashion world like the flu. The days of getting our heads busted by counterfeiting vendors are numbered. The RFID chip allows customers to scan and authenticate the merchandise by using their smartphones. Brands like Salvatore Ferragamo started implementing the chips in their pre-fall 2014 line. Now Moncler has announced that they will start embedding the chip in their products as well. If everyone jumps on board this will save as much as $30 billion dollars for luxury brands. Deactivation of the chip only happens at time of purchase.

The Game

The Game has teamed up with marijuana distributers G FarmaBrands to launch his “G Drinks” which comes in strawberry, pink, and lemonade. He’s also launching his marijuana cigarettes (joints) “G Stiks” that comes in six different blends. Right now “G Drinks” and “G Stiks” are only available in Washington state and California, but expect these products to expand to other states where applicable.

Rihanna x Puma Fur Slides are due to release this Friday, April 22nd. From what I’ve seen people aren’t loosing their minds over these slides. They cost $80 a pair which is more than the Jordan slides that price at $60. Personally, the fur is killing it for me – it makes them look cheap, but you guys tell me what you think.

Highest auctioned Birkin bag

Well here it is, diamond clamp and all, the most expensive handbag in the world as of today. This Hermes Birkin bag auctioned off for $298,000, braking their own record from a previous resold handbag gong for $222,000.00 – wowzers – that’s all I got.
