Menswear Vent Session

I have bit my tongue off trying not to express my irritations with the latest menswear fashion, but I can’t hold my peace anymore. With the exception of brands like Belstaff,  Tod’s, Ralph Lauren, Michael Bastian, Bally, and a few similar others, the quality of menswear fashion seems to be going to hell in a hand basket. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for the craft and the artistic creativity that goes along with the art of fashion designing. I can even understand accommodating fashions for all types of people, but some of these looks force questions like “WTF?!” and “Where the hell you going looking like that?”.

Some labels such as Siblings and Vivienne Westwood have an extended amount of tenure in the industry and an unapologetic knack for a certain type of creativity – they always have. However, it appears that menswear is evolving into a unrealistic approach with a hint of femininity attached to it. I don’t know if menswear is so boring that they’re doing everything they can to spice up a shirt, pair of pants, and a blazer or if there’s some unknown challenge amongst the designers to see who can make models look like the bigger fool. Whatever the method to the madness may be I hope it brings menswear fashion full circle to a more realistic being.
