Kendrick Lamar’s Conscience Moves

Kendrick Lamar is not only one of the greatest conscience rappers in today’s time, but he’s also one of the most relatable.

While his music peers floss and sashay in their Gucci and Balmain attire, Kendrick Lamar is pulling off his deserved success in a tee, jeans, and a pair of gangsta Nikes, succeeding at making his mark in this world by way of his hustle – regular shit right???

For those not relevant to the rap game, K-Dot is what most people about that music life call a conscience rapper, meaning it’s more to his rhymes than money, cars, clothes, drugs, and hoes. His lyrics carry real realities along with genuine truths for thought. These are things that artists such as Migos, 21 Savage, or Travis Scott don’t normally render in their music, yet we seem to balance a love for them all. It’s my opinion that Kendrick Lamar’s energy is what separates him from everyone else, and it’s that same energy that has landed him his 7 Grammy nominations, 5 American Music Awards nominations, 8 BET Hip Hop Awards nominations, an Image Award nomination from the NAACP, as well as on the cover of Forbes magazine.

The Compton native maintains his success under his music label TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) along with household names such as SZA and Schoolboy Q. During his DAMN. tour Lamar opened various pop-up shops featuring Top Dawg unisex streetwear. He has recently joined the Nike family revitalizing the brand’s Cortez line, and actually debuted his new Nike Cortez Kenny 1 kicks during Monday’s first ever NCAA Football Championship halftime show performance. Look for those shoes to release on the 26th of this month for $100 at SNKRS.

Kendrick Lamar along with Anthony Tiffith, founder of Top Dawg Entertainment have freshly produced the soundtrack of the new Marvel Comics movie Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong’o. The first single from the movie, “All the Stars” was newly released just this month featuring fellow Top Dawg member SZA. You can expect the film to release worldwide next month on February 16th.
