Cara Delevingne is chunking the deuces to fashion stating, “Modeling just made me feel a bit hollow after a while. It didn’t make me grow at all as a human being.”
She has mentioned the mental and physical toll working in the industry has taken on her, “I was…like…flight and flight for months; just constantly on edge.” She’s even had an outbreak of psoriasis because of the constant stress. Delevingne spoke of times where she would forget how young she was because she felt so old. Having to take poses that she didn’t feel comfortable doing, but she didn’t have an option to do otherwise. Personally, I pumped my brakes on that one because my thought process immediately went to ‘Now how in the hell?!’ However, I couldn’t allow myself to judge her on that because she was later quoted in stating, “It’s horrible and it’s disgusting, you start when you are young and…you get subjected to…not great stuff”.
Aside from Delevingne’s fashion woes she’s stated that acting is actually her true passion. If you haven’t seen it, she co-starred in the movie Paper Towns with Nat Wolff as Margo, which released just this past July. “I basically gave up on acting, because trying to get an agent was impossible. Everyone said ‘You’re just a model’. Once I had my mind set that I was going to do this modeling thing, I really wanted to beat it, if that makes sense. Win it.”, and her feet haven’t touched a catwalk since Chanel Fall/Winter 2015/2016 Show.
The 23 year old British model has been working runways since she was 10. She’s appeared on covers of Vogue UK (3xs), LOVE, i-D, Russh, and Jalouse. She’s walked catwalks for brands such as Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Jason Wu, Givenchy, Dsquared², Fendi, and Stella McCartney. Her craft of working a camera is visibly at perfection, but nothing has outweighed her skills to work the camera when she’s just plain ole Cara.
I’m sure we’ll see Miss Cara D. again, but I understand the struggle is real and wanting to live your age is not being unreasonable. All good things her way and many more successes with whatever she decide to do.
