I think it’s safe to say that when it comes to Johnson Hartig’s Libertine label, what you see is what you get. Libertine is a true reflection of Hartig’s various experiences with different cultures, art, history, and fashion.
This is the brand you want to wear when you’re experimenting outside of the norm box, but not falling off the cliff to Strangeville, USA. Hartig’s ability to clash wild colors with various graphics, and patterns is pure talent. Verbally speaking, a checkered long sleeve button-up, with a stripe bar jacket, and a sequenced puff skirt with images of the Queen of England throughout, doesn’t exactly give you that “Oh I got to have that!” feel, but to see it come to life as displayed for the Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear look, you think, “Oh I can see me in that” – talent. Labels like Libertine are warranted for the fashion industry because diversity reminds us how important variety is needed in our wardrobes. Keep watch of the brand’s new collection that will feature Monday, September 11th during NYFW in Gallery 3.
