Joi to the World is a complete outlet for me, but it’s also something that I love sharing with people. Fashion is a universal language because it crosses continents as well as generations. Whether you’re a size 0 or a size 24, it’s something we all can relate with. I can remember thinking, every trend wasn’t for everybody, but within my three years of blogging I’ve learned that the culture of fashion has evolved so much that anything is doable. It’s all about who you are, and what you like, which is why I post everything from high-end looks to information on affordable retailers.
People ask, how I can consistently do what I’m doing with a husband, two kids, and a full time job Monday through Friday, and all I can think to say is that, “I love it.” I love it as if it’s one of my family members. Honestly, the passion runs so deep that it’s not even about the money, it’s about having a good time watching the vision grow into something awesome. It’s about making people feel good about who they are regardless of their body shape or size. Servicing people with different perspectives of Goth, denim, or vintage wear is my pleasure. Plus, I half-way think I’m funny, so I really enjoy coming up with different titles and things to say.
Whenever the opportunity comes, I do aspire to work with any clothing label or retailer, rather it be within the rim of Human Resources, blogging, or just whatever’s for me to have because I don’t want to limit myself. I would love to assist recording artists with their clothing blogs, for no other reason than that they need it. 9 times out of 10 there’s never anything within their blog, which is a deflator for me as a fan, but I’m just saying.
Overall I am very grateful for all of the love and support from family, friends, stylists and bloggers. I’m also appreciative for the different brands that have noticed me like Trina Turk, Romás By Linda Rowe Thomas, Tibi, Cushnie et Ochs, and Tanya Taylor on social media.
In a nutshell I’m a free spirit, and I make sure I indicate just that within my blog. The bright colors represent the joy I have maintaining it, the mix of various looks by different cultures exemplify my love for diversity, and posts such as Watch Her Hobble or Calling All Bishops is me simply fulfilling my love to learn something new. So I hope you enjoy the site as much as I enjoy putting it together.
